Changelog
What's new in Sonara.
Features and improvements as they ship, newest first.
October 7, 2026 · Single sign-on, LMS export and hands-on practice
- Single sign-on. Each workspace can connect its identity provider with OpenID Connect or SAML 2.0. Administrators choose the allowed email domains, whether new people get an account on first sign-in, and whether identity provider groups set organizations. People see a Continue with SSO button on the sign-in page.
- Require single sign-on. A workspace can turn off password sign-in for its members. Administrators keep a password path, protected by two-factor.
- Two-factor sign-in. Anyone can turn on codes from an authenticator app, with one-time recovery codes and an option to remember a device for 30 days. Administrators can require two-factor for administrators or for everyone, with a grace period to set it up, and can reset it for someone who lost their phone.
- SCIM provisioning. Identity providers can create, update and deactivate people, and manage groups as organizations, through SCIM 2.0. Deactivating someone signs them out at once and keeps their records.
- CSV roster import. Admin, then Users, imports a spreadsheet of people with their team, organizations and role. You see a preview with every problem flagged before anything is created.
- More in the security log. Two-factor, single sign-on, provisioning and roster imports are logged next to sign-ins and administrative changes, with CSV export.
- LMS export. Export any published course as a SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 or cmi5 package and upload it to your LMS. The package opens the live course, so updates reach learners without a new upload, and completion and score go back to the LMS. Packages can be rotated or revoked.
- xAPI. Send course launches, progress, answers and completions to your own learning record store.
- New question types. Knowledge checks now include multiple select, true or false, ordering, matching, fill in the blank, and short written answers graded against a rubric. Any question can open with a short scenario.
- Role-play practice. The instructor plays a customer, inspector or colleague drawn from the course, by voice or by typing, then scores the learner against criteria quoted from your material. A creator confirms every criterion before learners see it.
- Procedure simulations. Practise the steps of an SOP on a 2D picture or labelled schematic: click a control, drag an item, choose a setting or put actions in order. Steps come from your document with a quote for each, a creator confirms them, the server grades each step, and a mistake on a safety-critical step fails the run. Every attempt is kept in the admin learner report with its result for each step.
- Public site. sonara.work now has pages for each part of the product, solutions, security, pricing and this changelog, plus a sample lesson you can try on the home page.
October 7, 2026 · LMS delivery, reminders and recertification
- LTI 1.3. Sonara is now an LTI 1.3 tool. LMS platforms launch Sonara courses, instructors add them with Deep Linking, and completion and scores go back to the gradebook through Assignment and Grade Services.
- LMS setup in Admin. A new LMS tab lists each registration with its tool URLs and keys, with setup help for Canvas and Moodle.
- Reminders. Due and overdue reminders run on their own, in the app and by email (at most one email a day). People who are well overdue are escalated to whoever assigned the course and to administrators.
- Notification preferences. Each person can turn reminder emails off.
- Recertification. A course can set how many months a completion stays valid. Learners see when recertification is due, and a retake keeps earlier completion dates on the record.
- Overdue view. Metrics shows who is behind and whose certifications have lapsed or will soon.
- Passing scores. A course can require passing its knowledge checks, with a pass mark, before it counts as complete.
- Resume anywhere. Lesson resume points are saved per person and chapter, so a lesson continues on another device.
October 2, 2026 · Listen mode and a better lesson player
- Listen mode. An audiobook player for every chapter, in the instructor's voice. It keeps playing with the screen locked and moves on to the next chapter.
- Watch theater. The narrated lesson plays in a larger theater view with drawn captions and the instructor docked alongside. Read follows along while you listen.
- Knowledge checks. A check you took before opens on your result, with Retake and Continue. Your best score counts, and leaving mid-check asks first.
- Flashcards. Finishing a deck points to what's next: the check, the next chapter, or finishing the course.
- Progress. Course cards and progress views say when only a knowledge check is left.
- My feedback. One page for the feedback you've given across courses, linked from the trophy case.
- Collaborators. People invited to a course can open the editor. Viewers read, Editors edit, without needing the Creator role.
- Search. Browse search now matches chapter titles and author names.
October 1, 2026 · Onboarding journeys and continuous improvement
- Onboarding journeys. Administrators set up first-week plans by team and role. New people get a spoken welcome from the instructor, by first name, and an onboarding checklist.
- Talk live, straight away. The instructor launcher opens directly into a live voice call, and the instructor knows which slide you're on.
- Your next step. Home shows one next step, ready to play with one press.
- Course versions and approvals. Learner feedback and questions become suggested updates. Approved changes create a new course version and are recorded in a tamper-evident change log you can verify from the version history.
- Lessons stay current. An approved change renders that chapter's narrated lesson again.
- Narrated lessons for every chapter. Lessons are generated per chapter with five slide layouts and illustrated slides, with a course-wide status and a generate-all option.
- Certificates. A completion banner and a printable certificate of completion.
September 30, 2026 · Modernize, data residency and the instructor persona
- Modernize existing training. Upload legacy courses, including SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 and cmi5 packages, decks, manuals and videos, and get a modernization report before rebuilding.
- Better extraction. Word and PowerPoint files keep their structure when they become a course.
- Video sources. Uploaded videos are transcribed and used as course sources.
- Data residency. A workspace can be set to AWS-only processing where the deployment supports it.
- Usage and costs. Administrators see the workspace's usage with an estimated cost.
- Approval for generated visuals. Generated images can require approval before learners see them.
- The instructor, your way. Each workspace sets the instructor's name, personality, voice and look. The default is Aura, drawn as a ring of light that moves with its voice.
- Look and feel. Theme presets, accent color, fonts and corner style for each workspace.
- Course covers. Distinct generated covers, a cover picker and uploads.
